Mark Morishige, MD

Board Certified Orthopedist

Fellowship Trained Sports Medicine Surgeon

Dr. Morishige credits his own orthopaedic surgeons, who treated him as an athlete, with encouraging him to go into not only orthopaedics, but sports medicine. After having 4 shoulder surgeries himself, he decided that sports medicine was his calling and hasn’t looked back since.

After completing his medical education at The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Kansas in Wichita. Deciding to continue in the Sports Medicine field, he completed an arthroscopy and sports medicine fellowship at the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center and Tulane Institute for Sports Medicine. With this additional fellowship training, he is one of the few Orthopaedic Surgeons in the region with these credentials. After living and practicing on the East Coast, he decided it was time to transition back to the West Coast to be closer to his family. The outdoor activities, such as snowboarding, hiking and climbing attracted him to the Pacific Northwest.

Dr. Morishige has been actively involved in the care for several sports teams that range from high school to division 1 NCAA athletes as well as professional athletes. While in college, Dr. Morishige was a Division 1 NCAA athlete at the University of California – Berkeley.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has received multiple honors and awards, has extensive research experience, written several textbook chapters and has presented and published articles on shoulder arthroscopy and techniques of shoulder replacements. Dr. Morishige got the opportunity to teach at the Arthroscopy Association of North America, which allows him to collaborate with colleges on the new technology and the latest techniques.

Dr. Morishige specializes in advanced arthroscopy of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip and knee, as well as total shoulder replacements.
