Dr. Dujela is a nationally recognized orthopedic fellowship trained surgeon at Washington Orthopaedic Center with over twenty years of experience. He is a frequent lecturer and instructor on foot and ankle surgery at medical conferences nationally, many of these as chairman and has lectured worldwide at many orthopedic surgery conferences, including meetings throughout Europe and Asia. He holds the prestigious designation as co-chairman of the DPM foot and ankle courses for the AO Foundation which is a global network of surgeons, and is recognized as the world’s premier organization for orthopedic education, innovation, and research for the surgical treatment of trauma and musculoskeletal disorders worldwide.
He is director of the ACFAS approved advanced foot and ankle surgical reconstruction fellowship at Washington Orthopaedic Center and past National Chairman of the Education and Scientific Affairs Committee for the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the world’s largest professional educational organization of foot and ankle surgeons. He teaches surgical techniques to other physicians at various surgical skills courses throughout the USA and serves as AO North America Trauma Faculty.
Recently, Dr. Dujela was elected by his surgeon peers nationwide to the Board of Directors of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Additionally, he serves on a national committee responsible for developing the board certification exam for foot and ankle surgeons. He serves as Section Editor for the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery for adult reconstructive hindfoot and ankle surgery and has published numerous peer reviewed journal articles and instructional chapters in multiple surgical textbooks. Additionally, he serves as a consultant for orthopedic industry companies lecturing on emerging technologies and developing cutting edge surgical implants.
Currently, he serves as co-chairman of the annual scientific conference for the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the largest foot and ankle surgical meeting in the world where he has been an invited lecturer each year for the past ten years.
Dr. Dujela has trained with some of the world’s leading orthopedic surgeons through two international orthopedic surgery fellowships in Germany and Switzerland. Additionally, he completed a prestigious visiting fellowship training program, at the internationally recognized Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Columbus, Ohio under the direction of Drs Hyer, Berlet, Philbin and Thomas Lee, M.D., Past president of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society.
Born and raised in Victoria, Canada, Dr. Dujela is an avid hockey fan. His pride and joy are his wife Liliana, and their two children Christian and Maddie who enjoy travel, soccer, skiing and the amazing quality of life in the Pacific Northwest.
