Dr. Dujela appointed as chairman of the National Education and Scientific Affairs Committee

Dr. Dujela performing surgery Dr. Michael Dujela, a foot and ankle surgeon at Washington Orthopaedic Center in Centralia, Washington, has been appointed as the chairman of the National Education and Scientific Affairs Committee of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). The ACFAS represents 7000 surgeons from North America. Dr. Dujela was also selected to be a speaker at the global foot and ankle congress featuring 19 "thought leaders" in orthopedics for foot and ankle surgery from around the globe. Congratulations to Our 3rd Quarter WOCEE Recipient, Brandy Epling

Brandy Epling was awarded the 3rd Quarter WOCEE (Washington Orthopaedic Center Employee Excellence) award by Dr. Anderson at our Staff meeting.  She was recognized by her peers with the following nominations: “She is always willing to help when possible.  She is great with patients both in person and on the phone.  She has many responsibilities and does them without an attitude.” “[Brandy] is always very helpful and does the job of 3 people daily!  Always going above and beyond for our patients.” “[Brandy] is always so patient and caring when she’s taking care of young patients.  Also, she’s always so quick to help and answer questions.”

Dr. Birchard Travels To Papua New Guinea To Help Residents

In 2008, Dr. Keith Birchard of Washington Orthopaedic Center traveled to Kudjip Nazarene Hospital in Papua New Guinea to offer his medical expertise to the local residents. Dr. Birchard spent three weeks away from home helping with a wide range of orthopedic injuries. "...we saw a variety of acute and chronic injuries including fractures, fracture non-unions, lacerations and infections" - Dr. Birchard During his visit, Dr. Birchard also performed a number of surgeries as well as non-operative treatments including casting and traction. Even though Dr. Birchard is back working at Washington Orthopaedic Center in Centralia, Washington, his presence is still felt in Papua New Guinea, "...We continue to support the work in Papua New Guinea by sending surplus medical supplies as well as helping them order new orthopaedic supplies as needed," says Dr. Birchard.
